Shaping Destiny is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit charitable organization founded to serve disadvantaged children. Shaping Destiny's role is:
- To meet the basic needs of disadvantaged children
- To invest in children and their families through education and activities that help children and their families develop self-sustaining life skills and businesses.
- To advocate for the protection of children's rights.
- To promote equal rights of girls and women to education and participation in public life.
Our goal is to work with other organizations to ensure that all children worldwide are given the opportunity to develop to their full potential. To do this, Destiny advocates for and serve disadvantaged children such as:
victims of HIV/AIDs,
victims of disaster,
victims of destitution,
victims of war
victims of violence
victims of exploitation (genital mutilation, slavery, prostitution)
Shaping Destiny carries out its work through country representatives and draws motivation from James 1:27 that says "Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit disadvantaged children and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world".
In accordance with Shaping Destiny's vision, Shaping Destiny believes strongly that all people should support disadvantaged children. As such, Shaping Destiny provides support, love, comfort, and encouragement to disadvantaged children many of whom have lost both parents to HIV/AIDs and to other catastrophes. Shaping Destiny believes that all disadvantaged children can regain their smiles, hope and joy if all people around the world would come together to support them. Such an effort would give them something to live for and transform them and their communities for ever. In addition to helping disadvantaged children, Shaping Destiny also believes that helping other qualified poor children and poor communities is also something that all people should strive to do.
Besides the spiritual and moral support (including the love, encouragement, mentoring, gospel etc) Shaping Destiny provides physical support for the disadvantaged children that our partners and sponsors enable us to help.
Physical support include: medical care, education, job training and empowerment, food and clothing. In addition to this, Shaping Destiny also meets other basic needs and tries to fill, as much as much as possible, the parental void that the loss of loved ones has created in the lives of these children while recognizing that God is the father of the fatherless and mother of motherless.
Shaping Destiny has worldwide vision to reach all who are living in poverty everywhere. At the moment, Shaping Destiny is operating in two provinces in Cameroon, West Africa. We are operating in Momo division (Northwest Province) and in Douala. ( Littoral Province). The organization plans to move to other areas and countries and serve there too.
Mission: Shaping Destiny's mission is to change the future by investing in poor disadvantaged children and poor communities in Africa and around the world. As a Christian charitable organization, Shaping Destiny's greatest implement for change is the LOVE of God through the Lord, Christ Jesus. So Shaping Destiny pragmatically spreads the love of Jesus Christ. Shaping Destiny aims to bridge the gap of poverty and decrease suffering by doing the following:
- Reach out in love to disadvantaged children , widows and poor communities providing education and job training, healthcare, food, shelter, recreation, spiritual growth. Our short term goals are to provide these basic needs but not to end there. As part of meeting future needs, Shaping Destiny will develop and implement training models that teach local Africans to develop sustainable healthcare systems, sustainable income generating activities for widows and other poor people so as to empower change their communities.
- Train and support missionaries and teachers of the gospel of Christ around the world.
- Open centers and shelters to cater for the need of God's children around the world.
- Support churches and provide emergency relief in disaster stricken areas.
Strategy:
Shaping Destiny's strategy is simple yet profound: Meet their present needs and at the same time, train and empower them to take up the leading role of providing for themselves and their communities in the future. Training in financial management and investment, training of nurses and other medical officials are some of the ways we will meet our goals.
