| Why do we need an office and a fundraising director? 1) With the fundraising director, myself (Kenneth Acha) and all the other
volunteers will not be relinquishing our efforts.
We will instead plan to increase our efforts and get expert
help from a fundraising director to achieve our goals.
2) Our financial needs have increased tremendously. For the next 4 months, we
need $21,000 to keep help going to
the kids. The orphanage is up and running and the need there
is a continuous one.
3) At this time, not enough money is coming in. As a result, we are
considering (against our desires)
dropping some of the children that we are helping. There are
several reasons why not enough money
is coming in. See some below.
4) Everyone who works for Shaping Destiny in the US is a volunteer.
Sometimes, many people have wanted to volunteer but there is no place to
go to in order to volunteer. I tried the library before, but that didn't go
across well to some volunteers.
In the past, I have done most of the coordinating, calling to remind donors,
going out and talking to get new donors etc. While I still continue to do that
and am honored by constant support of our partners, time has become more limited
for me because I'm in my 3rd year of medical school now and spend a lot of time
at the hospital. Most days I wake up at 3 AM and come back late. Because
of that, I'm not able to keep up with the fundraising efforts like I did in the
past. As a result, the amount of money coming in is reducing and the kids are
suffering.
5) Our organization is now tax exempt. That means the organization can write
grants and solicit funding from numerous sources. A fundraising director with
experience in grant writing will open other avenues for us to seek funds. I have
tried in the past to not only to learn how to write grants but also to find some
people with that knowledge to help, but it has been difficult.
6) Even though it posses a huge financial burden on us, I believe that hiring
a fundraising director at this point will help revamp our organization and allow
us to serve more kids. Having an office for the fundraising director will help
to take our organization out of the apartment to an office environment that will
make future donors comfortable and make it easier trusting us as an
organization, rather than some scam that is run from someone's apartment. With
all that, the Kids stand to benefit more, which is our major preoccupation.
What kind of person do we want to hire?

How much will it cost us monthly to run an office pay the
fundraising director? Less than 2500/month.
What are our expectations: Within 6 months, a
well qualified fundraising director should start bringing in monthly income that
exceeds that amount spent on office and salary. That should steadily increase
and allow us to help more kids.
How do we plan to raise money to cover these costs?
Pray and Seek donations from partners and
well-wishers.
Thanks.
